The winner of Question #11 in the 2010 Prognostication Quiz is D. Southeast (FL, GA, NC, MO, TN, LA). That region has clinched the win for Question 11 despite the handful of games remaining.
As of right now, here is the final tally of overall wins for each region in the stupidest question of this year's quiz:
937 D. Southeast
846 F. Heartland
821 E. West
812 B. Pacific
770 C. Northeast
759 A. Great White North
It was a bad year for us up here in the Great White North, it seems.
The highest people up the leader board to guess the Southeast were Grant's parents, Valerie and Cameron, who were at 3 points at the last post. I am suspicious there might have been some collusion in answering, since Grant himself chose the Southeast. The only other entrant to guess that was Ben. Kudos to those four to figuring that one out, and for demonstrating that sports prognostication may have a genetic component.
We also had another unfortunate passing. Bob Feller, hall-of-fame pitcher for the Cleveland Indians, passed away last week. That makes W. Bob Feller correct for Question 13-15.
Only two people guessed that Bob Feller would pass away. The first was Peter's second answer, where he spelled "FACED DECADE ANEW" with his entry. The second was Cameron, who also got the sports question correct above.
Leader Board
Other than Cameron making a late rally and climbing quickly, the leader board is mostly unchanged from the last question, due to the low number of people who predicted the Southeast and Bob Feller and the low ranking of those who did:8 Ron

Just one week left in the year for the stock market! The Dow Jones is right now at 11,573. If no further deaths take place (heaven forbid), it will come down to Ron and Ryan. Ron guessed E. 11,000 to 11,500 and has 11,316 as his tie-breaker. Ryan guessed F. greater than 11,500 and chose 11,940 as his tie-breaker. Since Ron is now one point ahead, Ryan needs to win the point and win the tie-breaker as well, while Ron needs either to win the point or win the tie-breaker.
In other words, if the Dow finishes below 11,628 then Ron will win. If the Dow finishes above 11,628 then Ryan will win. Can the Dow Jones rally another 55 points in the final week to hand Ryan the victory? Or will Ron's more conservative style win out and claim a championship?
Collusion? Collusion with Grant? Anyway, what sport are we talking about here? Golf, bowling ......
